maine day 7 (boston)

aah the subway!!
i love it!!

i was twenty something before i rode the subway for the first time, lucky little kid gets to experience so much at such a young age! i love the subway because of the busyness, the entertainers that perform while you are waiting, and the guys selling fake watches, purses, wallets etc. we first stopped at the prudential tower and went to the top where there are the best views of all the city and beyond. they have one of the self guided tours that we took and learned all about what we were looking at.
fenway park home of the boston red socks.
a veiw of the city.
some of the row houses.
massachusetts state house
directly across the street from the state house is the

this is one of the nation's most important war monuments- a memorial to interracial cooperation as well as to individual heroism. when the civil war broke out many massachusetts' black residents wanted to join in the fight to free their enslaved brethren. but u.s. army policy prohibited blacks from enlisting. after pleas from governor andrew, the war department relented and allowed blacks to severe. this monument represents the men who served in the regiment and robert gould shaw who lead the men.
if any of you have seen the movie glory you know the story of the monument and how powerful it is.
handsome boys!!
we also visited granary burial grounds where there are several famous people who buried. samuel adams, mother goose, benjamin frankiln's parents (many people think he is because there is such a large monument with the name fraklin on it,)
john hancock, and paul revere. a view of all the head stones. most of them you can't even read what is written on them so really they don't know how many people are buried here or where exactly everyone is buried.
john hancock monument a monument with paul revere's name
his actual resting spot.
on the way back to the cars from a second day of walking all around boston we rode the subway and rush hour. we were so packed it there it was so funny! only jase who was sitting in his stroller wasn't squished.
